- Drove to Target on route to a mega church. Biggest church in America?
- Drove to this ghetto hot dog, Gene & Jude. Only 2 items on the menu: Hotdog wrapped in fries, or side order of fries. Lineup was 50 people long, 20 min wait. AWESOME experience.
- Drove to Millenium Park, I was so blown away by that shiny coffee bean. Literally at awe. Splash Park was awesome, but parents walk in the water with their shoes and I see kids just diving face first into the water. Uh….a little bit uneasy? Definitely bring a change of swimwear for the kids.
- Walked to Willis (Sears) Tower. Stepped on the glass floor and my knees freaked out and heart pumped. Got the Chicago Pass so we were on the fastpass up the elevator, took only 5 minutes to get in and up while regular folks took probably an hour. Really fast.
Chicago Trip

Second Day
- Drove to Chicago to an overpass (Oasis) that sold a transponder called iPass (50% off all tolls, we will be driving through tolls everyday from our Hyatt to Chicago). iPass closes on the weekend, argh. Was told to buy it at Jewel Osco. Neighbourhood was shady, I was pretty scared. Turned on data for the first time to register iPass transponder online.
- Drove an hour to Free Zoo, traffic was like the QEW, brutal. Parking lot ($25) was full, had to circle. Zoo was AMAZING!
- Ate at Giordano, was warned to only ordered small stuffed pizza. Pizza was AMAZING, bruschetta stole the show. Included a $7 gigantic sundae ($40 tax+tip). Costco was across the street, with gas!! Filled up gas elsewhere :(
First Day:
- Drove to Blue Water Bridge, 15 minute wait time (awesome)
- Drove to Imlay, Michigan (been there before to eat at Lucky’s, surf and turf Lobster/Steak for $15) to check out this new restaurant (Mulefoot Bar, delicious but small in portions and expensive)
- Drove to our Hotel (Wyngate) at 4pm (started to get sleepy), Hotel gave us fresh baked cookies upon arrival, hot hor dourves at 6pm, our own private pool and hot tub. Very nice, very warm, very spacious.
- Glad we slept over. Felt not rushed. If we drove straight through, we would’ve arrived in Chicago (to purchase iPass) at 8pm, eat Fast Food (McD’s), and driving an extra hour to the Hyatt, check in at 9:30pm, missed the pool, and crashed on the bed.
- On the flip side, we wouldn’t have lost 5 hrs of activity in Chicago and went to the Children’s Museum tomorrow instead of the Free Zoo.
